Meet Liz Howard

Liz Howard is a children's book author and certified life coach from Brooklyn, New York.

Born and raised with a strong appreciation for family, community, and individuality, Liz later raised her own mixed-heritage family in Brooklyn alongside her husband. As a mother, she saw firsthand the questions children can have about identity, belonging, and why members of the same family may not always look alike.

Those experiences became part of the inspiration for A Mixed Nut Like Me, a heartfelt children's picture book that celebrates family, kindness, acceptance, and the qualities that make each person unique.

Liz also created A Mixed Nut Like Me Coloring Book as a fun and creative companion that gives children an opportunity to celebrate their own families, traditions, and differences through art.

Her work as a certified life coach has strengthened her belief in confidence, self-acceptance, and helping people recognize their own value. She brings those same ideas into her writing for children in a simple, encouraging, and age-appropriate way.

Brooklyn remains an important part of Liz's life and storytelling. Its neighborhoods, families, schools, parks, and mix of cultures helped shape the world reflected in her books.

Above all, Liz writes from the perspective of a mother who wants children to know that there is no single way for a family to look. She hopes her stories help children feel seen, loved, confident, and proud of the family they call their own.
